Ohno Kobo “Natural squeezed cedar products”

A limited edition handmade item that feels the warmth of wood. Naturally squeezed cedar pot/flower stand

Kitayama cedar, which is used as an attractive building material, was planted in Taiki Town from Kyoto, and was cultivated with great care and time by repeatedly pruning the tree to make its skin look beautiful and to prevent knot marks from remaining. Each product is handcrafted using only carefully selected logs from the Kitayama natural squeezed logs grown in the wonderful natural environment of Taiki Town. Each piece has a different shape on its surface, so each item is a special limited edition item that is only one of a kind in the world.

During forest cultivation, pruning was very important and was done using well-trained techniques in order to create the beautiful surface that is unique to Kitayama cedar. The annual rings on the cross section of the pot give you a sense of the weight of the tree, and by counting them you can tell how old it is. If the logs were left as they were, they would crack, so we cut notches into the product to allow moisture to escape.
