Gourmet Feature: Miyaji Udon and Soba Restaurant

Miyaji Udon and Soba Restaurant: A place of rest for anglers and travelers

Udon and Soba Restaurant Miyaji, located just near the Ouchiyama-Kise Interchange, is a popular restaurant that has been in business since around 40.
When the restaurant was first established, it opened as a popular restaurant called "Miyanishiya."

Just as when the restaurant first opened, the chef still treasures the "spirit of hospitality" that was passed down from his predecessor, and the interior of the restaurant, with its calming folk art decor, exudes a warm atmosphere.

One of the attractions of Miyaji is its easy access, just a three-minute drive from Kisei Ouchiyama IC on the Kisei Expressway.

Under the watchful eye of Namidai Shrine in front of the store, the restaurant is loved and cherished by many customers, not only from the local area but also from other prefectures.
The restaurant is usually frequented by anglers and tourers, and also by people returning to their hometowns during the Obon and New Year holidays, so it sees around 1 visitors a day.The restaurant is bustling every day with people of all ages and genders, from three-generation families to solo diners, and its welcoming atmosphere means it's a popular spot for people of all ages and genders.
They also accept group guests and group reservations, and can be used for banquets and other events.

An exquisite curry udon that highlights the use of local ingredients

Miyaji is particular about each and every ingredient.
We offer two thicknesses of noodles for our udon, and use either thick or thin noodles depending on the menu.
They use noodles made from high-quality domestic wheat.

The most popular dish at this restaurant is the curry udon, which features thick, chewy noodles that stand up to the curry. They also use only Japanese-style dashi stock. However, the dashi stock brings out the flavor of the curry, making it delicious and addictive. It's easy to see why this dish is the most popular.
There is also a "spicy curry udon" option, so if you like spicy food, be sure to try that too!

Curry udon

Along with curry udon, Miyaji's "Miso stewed udon" is another popular dish.

Miso stewed udon

This miso stewed udon uses thin noodles.

Miyaji's thin noodles are characterized by their firm texture, which goes well with the hot miso soup. The soup stock is made using kelp from Hokkaido and thick and thin shavings of bonito flakes from Mie Prefecture, and the soy sauce and miso are also carefully selected.

In addition to udon, we also recommend the tempura bowl made with local ingredients.
The vegetables used in the tempura are freshly selected from the local town of Taiki and served according to the season.
They also use rice grown in the great outdoors, and the taste is said to be second to none. These commitments are one of the reasons why they are loved by customers.

At Miyaji, the set menu, which comes with a choice of two main dishes, "tendon" or "udon," is very popular!
It's voluminous and very satisfying!

Miyaji is surrounded by mountains and is close to the sea, making it a unique rural location, and the water is so delicious that it's possible to eat delicious udon noodles that bring out the best in the ingredients.

New for 2024 is "Okuise Ise Udon."

The thick, soft and chewy Ise udon noodles are topped with rice cakes and seaweed.
You can enjoy it by wrapping the rice cake in the included soybean flour and seaweed, or you can top it with eggs, yam, or cheese for a colorful look.
You'll be addicted to this unique taste that is fragrant and has two different chewy textures!

As quantities are limited, they will be sold out once stock is gone.
Please try it once!
