The 63rd Shikinen Sengu Takihara-gu Shrine timber hauling ceremony has been successfully completed!

On Sunday, April 12, 2026, the "Mikihiki" ceremony, one of the folk events at Takihara Shrine associated with the 63rd Shikinen Sengu (periodic rebuilding of the shrine), was successfully completed.

The weather was fine on the day, and approximately 750 people participated around Takihara Shrine, creating a lively atmosphere.

Together with the local residents who were formerly residents of the sacred territory, as well as special residents who participated from all over Japan, from Tochigi Prefecture to Oita Prefecture, we were able to successfully deliver the timber to the new site.

We received many words of joy and emotion from the special residents of the sacred territory who participated in this rare opportunity that only comes around once every 20 years, which was a great encouragement to us.

Furthermore, given the difficulty in securing people to pull the floats due to the declining birthrate and aging population, we are deeply grateful for everyone's support and cooperation, which allowed us to successfully carry out the event.

The next folk event is the "Oshiraishi-mochi" ceremony, scheduled for 2024 (Reiwa 16).

We would greatly appreciate your continued support and cooperation.
